Liquid Handling Systems

Overview

At the heart of all CAT liquid handling instruments there is a rotary-axial piston and cylinder, machined from an acid-proof ceramic, Al2O3 which is extremely hard and highly chemical resistant, ensuring a long working life. The motorized units are driven by a robust stepper-motor, powered via a 12 volt AC adaptor.
The great advantage of this new developement is its valveless construction, benefiting in minimum dead volume and removing the normal tendency to jam or leak. The units are also self-deaireating, which guarantees that measurement errors caused by air bubbles are avoided. Since the fluid pathways are either PTFE or Al2O3, the system can be thoroughly cleansed and chemically sterillised.

Contiburette µ10C - Manual burette

Rotating the handwheel enables the Contiburette to deliver liquid with an accuracy of <=0.1%. The volume is displayed by LCD, with a resolution of 10µl. The instrument is powered by two 1.5 volt AA batteries which give 500 hours of continuous use. Now with user calibration.

Contiburette µ10MC - Motorized burette

This version of Contiburette may be operated either by 3 built-in function switches or by a choice of optionable remote controllers. The built-in functions allow a continuous run mode, a 10µl dispense and to zero the LCD. The stepper-motor dispenses 3ml of media in less than 10 seconds with a constant accuracy of <=0.1% (EV). A mini jack-plug permits the connection of controllers C2 or C4 (see below for details). Now with user calibration.

Contiburette µ10MO - Motorized burette

This version of Contiburette is identical to the Contiburette µ10M, except it has no built-in control switches. It is designed solely for use with either the C2 or C4 controllers or via a suitable PC.

C2 and C4 Remote Controllers

The C2 controller has the three function buttons but includes an LCD on the controller, making it ideal for work in hazardous areas, such as fume cupboards.
The C4 controller is microprocessor controlled and allows the user to set a target volume and average flow-rate. A memory mode is also included to allow the user to repeat a dosing cycle. All values are displayed in a 2-line back-lit alpha-numeric LCD.

Liquid-processor

Liquid-processor is a high-precision, bottle mounted liquid-handling system able to dispense by volume, weight and timed flow-rate, in a number of different modes, in volumes of 10µl up to 100litres.

With it’s ceramic system, it is especially suited to dispensing aggressive fluids and it’s advantage is that it does not require the liquid to be decanted into a reservoir first. The remote key-pad and optional hand-set allows use in hazardous areas and the mounting arrangement contains harmful vapours from aggressive media.

The user selects the required function and values, e.g. volume and flow rate, such as µl, ml, mg, g, µl/s, ml/m., via the key-pad or PC through the RS232. A Windows program is available for this task.

Liquid-processor is extremely versatile - applications include precise dosing of a set volume, manual dispensing, time-controlled dispensing, diluting and titrating .

A combined Analogue and digital I/O port allows for connection to your own hardware controller, allowing the system to be switched on at a pre-programmed flow-rate or a program step to be performed. An analogue output also provides a readout of the actual flow rate for data logging purposes.

Liquid-processor is also now available coupled with a pH controller providing a simple, low-cost titration unit.
