Cruising for fun programme 2010
CRANE IN CRUISE Saturday 17th AprilThis years crane in went very smoothly on the with all boats in the water by 10.30AM. We had a cruise and passage race to Torquay the same day but the wind dropped off and all boats retired. Thank you to the Chef at Torbay Yacht club who served an excellent meal for us all in spite of doing a wedding party the same night.MAYDAY W/E CRUISE 28th April-4th May. Ports visited included Falmouth, Plymouth, Salcombe and Torquay.CHANNEL ISLAND / FRANCE CRUISE 19th JUNE-4th jULYThank you to Ian Clay for organising a most successful Channel Islands/France trip. We arrived at Guernsey on Saturday 19th June and spent 2 nights in St Peter Port. On Monday we left in the afternoon for a night at anchor in a lovely cove east of Herm called Shell Bay. Tuesday took us to the Iles Chausey where we crossed the Islands from North to South carefully avoiding the rocks. (fortunately none of our boats ended up like this. Iles Chausey) The moorings were free but interesting as everyone moors fore and aft using the same buoy as the boat in front and also raft 3 abreast, where on arrival Ian Clay practised his sewing joining us all together from his inflatable. Wednesday took us past St Malo (except Morgi due to her draft) and up the river/canal to Dinan a lovely medieval town where we again found some free moorings just short of town. Friday took us back down the river to St Malo where Colin was waiting with some french Tarts which he served for desert after his excellent Curry. On Sunday a fair wind took the boats to Grandville, Jersey and Guernsey before returning to Teignmouth via Jersey and Guernsey in time for the BBQ at Coombe Cellars. Thank you to Peter and Annie Hearne for hosting the BBQ.
